Welsh means Business
Businesses in Pwllheli are to get the opportunity to make more use of the Welsh language from day to day thanks to a campaign spearheaded by the Gwynedd Welsh Language Promotion Group.
Research already shows that Welsh speaking customers increasingly expect to receive their services and buy goods through the medium of Welsh. Likewise studies say that non-Welsh speakers and visitors also appreciate seeign and hearing the language. To this end the scheme aims to help companies to make the most of the support available to offer services bilingually, and to encourage customers to ask for goods and services locally in Welsh.
Gwynedd Council Senior Portfolio Leader for Development, Councillor Dafydd Iwan said: “Many businesses already make use of Welsh and are seeing commercial benefits of doing so.
“However, I believe that many more would like to use the language for the benefit of their business and customers. The hope is that this campaign will give them the confidence and support to do just that and to let them know that there are grants and various schemes out there which will allow them to provide more services in Welsh.”
Gwynedd Langugage Promotion Group wants to emphasise that the assistance is availbale to any business in the area. The aim is to contact businesses over the next three months to assist them to take small steps to put Welsh at the heart of their business.
